Children's Room

Story Time

Our in-person Children's events have now resumed.

All story time sessions are drop-in. The following Story Times are offered by the library:

Patty-Cake

Nursery rhymes with movement, board books, finger plays and more for babies birth to 17 months with a parent/caregiver. Provides children with a foundation for later print literacy, encourages parents to take part in literacy-related activities, and establishes the library as an enjoyable place to go.

Toddler Time

Simple picture books, big books, finger plays, songs and movement for children 18-35 months with a parent/caregiver. Develops pre-literacy skills through vocabulary, rhyme and rhythm. Helps children to be prepared for learning to read.

Picture Book Time

Picture books, big books, flannel board stories, rhymes with movement for ages 3 and 4. This program continues to help with developing early literacy skills. Parents do not accompany children, to promote self-confidence and independence.

Session Rules

  • Please try to arrive on time. It is not fair to your child or the other children if there are interruptions.
  • Stay in the library while your child is at story time.
  • Do not give your children food, drinks, or toys before entering story time.
  • Siblings are welcome as long as they are not disruptive to the program.
  • If you are in the story time with your child, please stay focused on the activities. Background conversations are distracting to everyone.
