The Board of Selectmen and Town Moderator welcome residents who have an interest in serving on the Town’s various Committees/Boards.  Please complete a Talent Bank application and return it to the Selectmen's Office.  The following volunteer opportunities exist:

Composed of seven Trustees,   1 member of Board of Selectmen,1 member of Community Preservation Committee and  5 at large members.   Initial terms are staggered as 1 or 2 year terms.

The Trustees shall meet at least quarterly at such time and place as Trustees shall determine.

Board of Assessors

Joint appointment of the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Assessors

The primary responsibility of the Board of Assessors is to accurately and fairly assess all property in the Town of Hanover at full and fair cash value.  The Town reviews sales and the market every year and thereby reassesses values each year.

The Board meets as necessary throughout the year.

Composed of three members with terms expiring on a rotating three year basis.  Meetings throughout the year on an as needed basis.

Conservation

Commission

Town Manager subject to the approval of the Board of SelectmenComposed of five members and two Associate members, each for a term of three years.  The term of one member shall be two years for the duration of that member's term only.   The Commission administers  State and local Wetlands Protection Regulations pertaining to protected resource areas in the Town including permitting, enforcement, education, and care of Open Space parcels.The Commission typically meets twice a month at Town Hall on Wednesday evenings.

An advisory Committee to the Board of Selectmen with a primary mission to advise the Board on potential post clean-up redevelopment and reuse scenarios for the property.   The Committee works closely with the DEP and Town Departments to fulfill its duties.The Committee meets as necessary throughout the year.

This five member advisory committee is made up of five members and was established to evaluate the Town's current information technology capabilites and current and projected needs as well as to  develope a long-term strategic plan for identifying and prioritizing future technology upgrades.

Representative to the MBTA Advisory Board

The representative will provide oversight of the MassBay Transportation Authority as well as technical assistance and information on behalf of the community members.

The Board meets periodically throughout the year.

Parks and Recreation CommitteeTown Moderator subject to the approval of the Board of SelectmenThe Committee's duties include establishing policies governing the provision of the of recreation and parks services, including Bandstand activities, develop goals and objectves and long range plans for the provision and future development of; playgrounds, athletic facilities, and park amenities.  Oversee the long term maintenance and improvement of the recreation facilities under its jurisdiction.  The Committee meets typically once a month.  2
