Hanover Fireworks Site Glass Containers

August 1, 2019

At 4:17pm on Thursday, August 1, 2019, the Hanover Fire Department was notified that two glass containers, each containing an unknown substance, were discovered by the clean-up crew at the Fireworks site off of Winter Street.

Per standard protocol, the Hanover Fire Department responded to the site and requested a response from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Fire Services State Hazardous Materials Team and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad.

Hazardous Materials technicians determined that it was safe to place the containers into over-packed 5 gallon pails for safe disposal by a licensed hazardous material contractor.   At no time was there any risk to the public.  Crews cleared the scene at 8:24pm.
