Child Passenger Safety Seats

With crashes being a leading cause of death for all children, ensuring your child is in a correctly installed car seat that is appropriate for their size is the best way to ensure their safety when your family is on the road. But many parents still misuse their child’s seat due to uncertainty over which type of seat their child should be in or confusion when installing it. There is plenty of help out there for parents who need a hand.

The Hanover Fire and Police Departments have teamed up to offer free car seat inspection assistance and education. These inspections are conducted by a certified child passenger safety technician who can assist in ensuring your child’s seat has been installed correctly. Car seat inspection sites are organizations with at least one child passenger safety technician on staff where you can go to ensure your child’s seat has been installed correctly.

Inspections are typically conducted by a certified technician who is on duty. If you are interested in this service, please provide the following information, and a technician will contact you to schedule a visit.

To assist as many people as possible, your scheduled visit may occur at the Hanover Fire Department or the Hanover Police Department.

I understand and agree that the sole purpose of this program is to help reduce the incidence of improper installation and use of car seats, booster seats and seat belts, and that this inspection and demonstration is being provided as a free educational service to me. I realize that the program sponsors and certified child passenger safety technicians inspecting the seat(s) cannot fully evaluate the quality, safety or condition of my car seat, booster seat, or the vehicle seat, safety belts, or any component of the vehicle no or in the future. Furthermore, I understand that the actions taken in this program will not guarantee my child’s safety in a motor vehicle crash. I understand that it is important to read and follow the instruction manuals for both the vehicle and the car seat. For these reasons, I hereby release any program participants, any participating organization, or individuals, including the site owner, from any present or future liability for any injuries or damages that may result from a vehicle collision or otherwise.
