About the Fire Department

The Hanover Fire Department is an “all-hazards” emergency services organization that responds to about 3,400 calls for service every year. The scope of services we provide includes fire suppression, fire prevention/code enforcement, fire and life safety education, advanced life support emergency medical services, emergency management, hazardous materials and technical rescue response, and a multitude of public assistance and other services.

The Hanover Fire Department is a “Combination Department" made up of career (full-time) firefighters and on-call firefighters. The department currently consists of a Chief, a Deputy Chief, a Fire Prevention Captain, four shift captains, twenty-two career firefighters, fourteen on-call firefighters, and a civilian executive assistant. Career firefighters are organized into four groups that work 24/7/365 and are cross-trained to provide both fire and emergency medical services.

We operate out of two stations: Headquarters, located at 32 Center Street, which is staffed 24 hours/day; and Station 3, which is located at 925 Circuit Street. The department utilizes several vehicles and apparatus to assist firefighters and accomplish their tasks: four engines, one aerial tower, one squad, three ambulances, two forest fire trucks, four staff cars, a marine unit, and two special hazards trailers.

Hanover Fire is an ISO Class 3 Organization.
