Tim Kane Selected to Lead the Hanover Police Department 1/5/22

The Town of Hanover is pleased to announce the promotion of Timothy Kane to Police Chief of the Hanover Police Department, effective January 1, 2022.

“Chief” Kane graduated from South Shore Vocational Technical High School where he specialized in electronics.  After high school, Tim worked as an electronics technician for an engineering company and spent 15 years as a professional DJ.

Tim began his law enforcement career as a permanent intermittent police officer with the Abington Police Department in 1998 and became a full-time police officer for Abington in 2001.  Tim joined the Hanover Police Department in 2003 and spent several years working as a patrolman. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2012.  He became the department’s Training Coordinator and also represented the department as a substitute Police Prosecutor at Hingham District Court.  In 2016, Tim took on additional responsibilities as the HPD Safety Officer, which allowed him to interact with the community on issues such as traffic and roadway safety enforcement.

Chief Kane earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Criminal Justice from Curry College.

Tim currently resides in Plymouth with his wife Amy and their three daughters Lindsey, Alissa, and Rylee.  He is looking forward to leading the highly professional and dedicated members of the Hanover Police Department.
