Town of Hanover Mobile Integrated Health Pandemic Response Plan

The Town of Hanover and the Hanover Fire Department are pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has approved a temporary license that will allow for a Mobile Integrated Health Program to operate within the community.  The Program represents a cooperative effort between the Hanover Fire Department and South Shore Health System to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency in the Town of Hanover.  The license, granted to South Shore Health System will allow the Town to provide in-home assessment, COVID-19 testing and emergent treatment by Hanover Firefighter/Paramedics with nurse follow up under the oversight of the Health Systems current Mobile Integrated Health Program operating in Weymouth, Massachusetts.  The Program will be available to the residents in Hanover with specific attention placed on our elderly population and those who are most vulnerable. 

Hanover’s Mobile Integrated Health Program is an innovative approach toward meeting the health needs of our residents during the COVID-19 Pandemic and represents the first such Program in the Commonwealth.  The Program is a collaborative venture that brings together resources from the Hanover Board of Health, the Hanover Public Health Nurse, the Hanover Fire Department, Hanover Police Department, and Emergency Communications Center, Hanover Visiting Nurse Association, Hanover Emergency Management Agency, Hanover Public Schools and Hanover Technology Operations.

The Board of Health announces the availability of in-home paramedic visits, testing if criteria are met, and patient follow-up phone calls, by Hanover nurses, for eligible citizens.

Residents 65 or older and other at-risk residents, who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath may call the non-emergency telephone number (781-826-2335 then press 0 (zero) at the Emergency Communications Center to request an in-home evaluation by a paramedic.
