Winter Storm Kenan Update 1/30/22

The Hanover Emergency Management Team continues to respond to Winter Storm Kenan. We ask that family, friends, and neighbors make a point to check in with each other, especially with those in the community who are most vulnerable. If anyone needs assistance, has questions, or is concerned about the well-being of a fellow resident, please contact Hanover's Town Manager at 339-214-5303 (call/text) or send a message to joseph.colangelo@hanover-ma.govFor all emergencies, call 911.

Hanover Transfer Station

  • The Hanover Transfer Station will remain closed until crews are able to clear snow within the complex. At this time, we do not anticipate opening today, January 30th.

Roadways and Sidewalks

  • The Department of Public Works is continuing to clear and widen roadways throughout the town.
  • A parking ban remains in place for all public roadways. Noncompliance may result in your vehicle being towed.
  • Residents are requested to not plow or snow blow their driveways into the roadway. Doing so presents a hazard to the traveling public.
  • Sidewalks on Cedar Street, Pleasant Street, Whiting Street, and Route 139 will be cleared after all roads and town parking lots have been cleared. Sidewalk clearing is expected to take an extended amount of time.

Power and Utilities

  • At this time, National Grid is reporting zero power outages in the Town of Hanover.  If you do not have power, please notify National Grid to ensure your outage is reported by calling 800-465-1212.
  • If you see downed utility lines, stay away and call 911.

Warming Center

  • At this time, Town will not be opening a Warming Center.

Fire Hydrants

The Hanover Fire Department asks for your assistance uncovering and clearing fire hydrants. Please consider “adopting” one of Hanover’s 1200 fire hydrants and clearing the snow for three feet around it to enable access during an emergency.

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

As a reminder, ensure that your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working. Be sure to keep fuel-burning appliance exhaust vents and flues clear when shoveling. A blocked vent can cause carbon monoxide levels to rise to potentially fatal levels.
