Water Main Break at 127 Water St

UPDATE 11/2/2018 9:30 P.M.  Old main removed, new main installed.  We expect water service to be restored to the affected areas by 10:30 P.M.

Water main break at 127 Water Street.  The DPW is in the process of shutting down mains in order to make repair.  This break is large in size so there is dirty water at some distance from Water Street.

The DPW achieved a good shut down and are waiting on DIG SAFE before starting the repair.  About 15 homes are without water on Water Street between Clapp Road and Elm Street.

Once service is restored, you may experience dirty water from dislodged sediments in the pipes. It is recommended you do not use the water or do laundry.  Should you experience this, run your cold water tap (without the aerator screen) for several minutes until it runs clear.  If you continue to see discolored water, we ask that you to please notify the Hanover Communications Center at 781-826-2335 x 0 between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M. or notify the DPW directly at 781-826-3189 during normal business hours (between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.) and we will send someone out to inspect the issue and do any additional flushing of the system that may be required.
