Hanover Police Department Comfort Dog Program 10/29/22

Aftermath K9 Grant
Aftermath K9 Grant

The Hanover Police Department is in the process of implementing a new community engagement initiative specifically, the development of a Comfort Dog Program. This program will allow us to better serve the community by offering a coping mechanism for individuals who experience crisis or traumatic events. Additionally, our comfort dog will help us bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community by fostering positive relationships and building trust with those we serve. We have high hopes for the success of this program, and we are fully committed to forming the necessary partnerships within the community to ensure the program’s effectiveness.

This grant contest ends on Monday, October 31, 2022, so we’re hoping for a final push this weekend to get us to the finish line! Any votes from the Hanover school community would be appreciated.

If we are successful, we look forward to working with Hanover Public Schools in the selection of a name for our dog. Our plan is to hold a Comfort Dog name contest which will allow students to submit their ideas. We hope that we have the opportunity to pick a great name!

Thank you very much for your support, and we wish all of you a fun (and safe) Halloween!

Sincerely,

Timothy Kane, Chief of Police
Hanover Police Department
