Grove Street/Route 139 Intersection Update 8/1/22

Effective today, August 1, 2022, the traffic flow pattern at the intersection where Grove Street and Route 139 meet has changed. New right turn only signs have been installed for the two Grove Street approaches to Route 139. Drivers must take a right turn only when entering Route 139 from either side of Grove Street.

Most accidents at this intersection result from vehicles turning left and/or going straight.

As this is a newly established condition, drivers should anticipate heavy traffic enforcement at this intersection.

The goal of this change is to mitigate disastrous collisions at an unsafe intersection.

The Town of Hanover will monitor the effectiveness of this new traffic condition.
