Former National Fireworks Site Cleanup Update 5/31/23

Town Seal

On May 31, 2023, at approximately 2:00 pm, as part of the regular ongoing cleanup efforts at the former National Fireworks Site, containers with unknown substance(s) were discovered. The containers were not labeled. Pursuant to pre-established protocols and procedures, work at the site stopped. The Hanover Fire Department was contacted and subsequently requested a response from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Hazardous Materials Response Team. A coordinated, multi-agency investigation that included representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the Massachusetts State Police concluded that no immediate danger or hazard exists to the public. All responding agencies cleared the site and normal cleanup operations are expected to continue in the morning.
