The Hanover Fire Department Fire Prevention Division is responsible for all inspections and enforcement of the fire code. A full-time Fire Prevention Officer coordinates all activities in the Division. Office Hours for the Fire Prevention Officer are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM. Flammable and Combustible Storage including Propane Storage & Installation
To store flammable and combustible liquids in the town of Hanover you must first complete a FP 06 Form. The completed Form can be turned in to the Hanover Fire Department.
Oil Burner Installation and Oil Tank Removal/Replacement
For services regarding oil tank removal, oil tank replacement, and oil burner installation you must first complete and submit a Form 1 document. This document must be completed by a certified installer. The completed form can be turned in to the Hanover Fire Department. Once received the property owner will be contacted by a member of the Hanover Fire Department to schedule an inspection.
Private Fire Hydrant Inspections
The Town of Hanover General Bylaws (6-33) require regular maintenance and inspection of fire hydrants located on private property to insure compatibility with the public water infrastructure supporting fire protection, and related needs. Residential Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspections
Are you selling your home? You need a Certificate of Compliance from the local fire department that shows your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms meet the requirements for a sale or transfer. The Hanover Fire Department conducts residential smoke and carbon monoxide detector inspections on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. To schedule an inspection, a Form must be completed at Hanover Fire Headquarters. There is a $50.00 fee for a Residential Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspection which should be paid at the time of application (payable by check or cash only)
