Permit and Day Pass Information

FY27 Initial Permit Sales May 2026

All vehicles must display a Hanover Transfer Station permit sticker to enter the Hanover Transfer Station facility. No exceptions will be made.

Permit Purchase Options and Instructions

Permits may be purchased online or in person. However, all permits must be picked up at Hanover Town Hall, 550 Hanover Street, on the following schedule:

  • Mondays: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Wednesdays: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Fridays: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Saturday, June 13, 2026: 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

If you have prepaid through UniPay (Hanover-MA.gov/UniPay), you will be required to complete an application and provide your license, registration, and proof of payment.

Permits will not be mailed. If you have a legitimate health or accessibility issue that prevents you from visiting the Hanover Town Hall, we will do our best to deliver and assist with permit placement.

Notes and Additional Information
  • Annual permits expire at the end of a fiscal year (June 30th) / Day Passes expire at the closing time on the date first used.
  • Full-access annual permits also provide access to the Ames Way Brush Pile.
  • All access to and use of the Transfer Station is subject to adherence to the Operating Guidelines, including purchase of an Annual Permit or Day Pass and payment of disposal rates published in the Fee Schedule.
  • Senior Discount Resident must be age 65 as of July 1, 2026.
  • The Transfer Station will be open four days per week to permit-holding residents on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Transfer Station hours are subject to change due to holidays, weather conditions, and at the discretion of the Town Manager.

  • For Fiscal Year 2027, the non-resident program will operate as a pilot initiative, with participation limited to a maximum of 300 out-of-town permits.
  • Annual permits expire at the end of a fiscal year (June 30th).

  • The non-resident permit is limited to the Full Access Permit (e.g., no senior discounts or day passes).
