Energy Conservation

Conservation of energy for both budget savings and environmental stewardship has been a major effort of the Facilities Division over the last decade.  In 2010, the Town of Hanover became a member of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Resources’ “Green Community” program which ushered the Town into a grant program to fund numerous energy-saving measures in our Schools and Municipal Facilities. Over the last 10 years, Hanover has received $1,787,057 in combined Green Community grants and MassSave incentives to fund approximately 57 energy-saving measures, including energy-efficient LED lighting, modern energy-efficient boilers, town-wide LED streetlights, insulated overhead doors for Fire Department Headquarters, and other insulation measures.
