Facelift for Finance Director's Office 5/14/21

Town Hall Finance Director Office

Continuing our ongoing effort to improve Town Hall, Facilities Foremen, John Wright (Maintenance Section), and Chris Coviello (Custodial Section), provided the Town’s new Finance Director, Chelsea Stevens, with a spruced up office.  Chris began the process by clearing out the large walk-in vault, a brick addition built off the office’s exterior wall, and removing a bevy of obsolete moldy records that had lined more than 80 feet of vault shelving, and then disinfecting the vault.

John Wright then went to work, performing the following:

  • Painted the vault to eliminate the residual moldy smell.
  • Removed plaster overlaying the brick wall that supported the vault’s large metal door; then restoring the revealed brick to give the room a fashionable historic accent.
  • Added new wood trim around the vault door and brick to tie into and match the existing office trim.
  • Painted the office.
  • Replaced ceiling tiles.

As a final touch, Facilities removed the old carpet and hired Hanover contractor Simmons and Sons Flooring to install an overlay of hardwood flooring (the existing hardwood wood floor being too defective to refinish).

After settling into her new digs, Chelsea seemed like a satisfied customer, “My new office is a bright and inviting space. I especially like the original brickwork that has been uncovered around the historical safe. The Facilities Department did an excellent job”.
