Town of Hanover Water Restriction Emergency Update 6/20/26
We are pleased to share that Hanover's water tank levels have reached 117 feet, an accomplishment made possible by the collective efforts of our residents, businesses, and the entire community. By working together and making water conservation a priority, Hanover has successfully improved conditions.
While this progress is encouraging, water-use restrictions remain in effect, and enforcement of violations will continue throughout the summer. Irrigation using the public water system is prohibited. For those who wish to maintain extensive lawn irrigation, a private well remains the appropriate alternative, and certainly less expensive than incurring a $100-per-day violation fine.
As we move forward, we encourage everyone to continue reducing daily water use by approximately 10 percent whenever possible. These conservation efforts help maintain healthy water tank levels, reduce strain on the system, and can also lower household water bills.
We also urge residents not to become complacent. Reaching 117 feet is an important accomplishment, but maintaining a reliable water supply throughout the summer will require continued vigilance and responsible water use. Please continue to use good judgment and avoid unnecessary water consumption whenever possible.
Thank you for your cooperation, commitment, and dedication throughout this effort.
