Town of Hanover Water Restriction Emergency Update 6/16/26
First, thank you to everyone who has already taken steps to reduce water consumption. We have seen encouraging signs that many residents are doing their part, and that cooperation is greatly appreciated.
While the community response has been positive, our water supply situation remains critical. Water storage levels are still at historically low levels, and immediate conservation efforts remain essential.
If these violations continue, or if additional properties begin irrigating, fines will be issued starting tomorrow, June 17, 2026. The seriousness of this situation and the consequences of noncompliance have been clearly communicated.
We are asking every resident and business to challenge themselves to reduce their normal water consumption by at least 10%.
Until Further Notice
- No pool fills
- No irrigation
- No outdoor watering
- No unnecessary water use of any kind
The current conditions are dire and require continued vigilance from all of us. If we can maintain the positive momentum we have seen today and continue working together as a community, we can stabilize our water system and begin restoring water levels to a more sustainable range. A widespread, soaking rain would certainly help as well.
Every gallon saved helps protect our water supply, maintain adequate fire protection, preserve public safety, and ensure that essential household needs can be met throughout the community.
Your conservation efforts are making a real difference. Please continue to do your part as we work together to address this challenge.
