Town of Hanover Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, May 29, 2023

Memorial Day 2022

Mark your calendars and get ready to join the Town of Hanover as we honor and remember the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved nation. On Monday, May 29, 2023, the Town of Hanover will host its highly anticipated Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, a time-honored tradition that embodies the true spirit of patriotism and unity. Hanover's Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary's Church and end at the Veterans Memorial.

The parade will commence with the stirring sound of the Hanover High School Marching Band resonating through the streets of Hanover Center. The parade route includes remembrances at the Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover Town Hall, and the World War II Memorial at Sylvester School.

Once at the cemetery, we will honor and memorialize various Veteran plots, including the Josselyn and Cummings World War I soldiers, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the police and fire deceased, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars memorials.

Following, the parade will march toward the Civil War Memorial (by the cannons across from Town Hall). There, we will memorialize the Civil War as well as the Korean, Vietnam, and World War II veterans.
The parade will then march to the Sylvester School building, where our officials will memorialize World War I soldiers, and then end at the Hanover Veterans Memorial.

Hanover's Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at the Veterans' Memorial at the conclusion of the Memorial Day Parade, located at 495 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA. The ceremony includes an opening prayer, remarks from our Veterans, and a roll call while laying a wreath. The event will be a testament to the enduring gratitude and deep respect that Hanover holds for those who have given everything for our freedom.

This Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is an opportunity for all of us to come together as a community, to remember, and to honor. So mark your calendars, spread the word, and join us on Monday, May 29, 2023, as we pay tribute to our heroes and ensure their memory lives on in our hearts. Parking is available at the Veterans Memorial, located next to B. Everett Hall Field, Saint Mary's Church, and Center School.
