Hanover Fifth Graders Dive Into Local Water Discovery with NSRWA WaterSmart Program 6/24/26
Fifth grade students from Hanover Middle School recently completed the NSRWA’s "Water All Around You" curriculum, a core component of the NSRWA’s regional WaterSmart education program. This initiative, funded by the Town of Hanover, is designed to educate South Shore students on the critical importance of conserving and protecting our local water resources.
The WaterSmart program brings essential hands-on water education to South Shore youth through engaging, hands-on activities. Students participated in modules covering vital topics directly related to current state curriculum standards, including: discovering what a watershed is and what watershed they live in, groundwater and aquifers, filtration, conservation, stormwater management, and ways we all can help preserve and protect our most valuable natural resources.
"The 'Water All Around You' program truly helps students understand how their actions affect our most valuable natural resource," said Brian Taylor, NSRWA Environmental Educator. "Through meaningful, educational, and fun activities, they make discoveries about their town's water and form connections that inspire them to become better stewards of their waterways, communities, and the overall environment."
The success of the program highlights the Town of Hanover’s commitment to environmental education and sustainability. The NSRWA extends its gratitude to the Town of Hanover for providing the essential funding that made this valuable educational experience possible for all Hanover fifth graders.
