Register to Vote or Change your Party for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary 2/7/24

The last day to register to vote or change your party preference in the Presidential Primary on March 5, 2024, is Saturday, February 24, 2024.  The Hanover Town Hall will be open until 5:00 pm on February 24^th, and online registration will be available until 11:59 pm. If you need to register in person, please come to Town Hall. Staff will either be in the large hearing room on the first floor or in the Registrar’s Office on the lower level. 

Any Hanover citizen who will be eighteen on or before the March 5, 2024, election is encouraged to register to vote. Once registered, individuals will be eligible to vote in all elections thereafter. Residents may pre-register to vote if they are aged 16 or 17 but will not be eligible to vote until they turn 18.

Citizens of Hanover may conveniently register to vote or change their party status online, by mail, or in person. If residents choose to register by mail, they should download the Massachusetts Mail-In Voter Registration Form and mail the completed form to the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office.

If voters wish to register to vote in person, they may do so at two convenient locations: Hanover Town Hall or the Registry of Motor Vehicles.  “With automatic registration now the law of the land in Massachusetts, very few people actually need to come in to register to vote,” said Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier.  “However, what we do occasionally see is that people who have moved recently and/or who have not updated their driver’s license - those people do need to update their voter registration status. We also sometimes see 18-year-olds who do not yet have driver’s licenses who need to register to vote. We look forward to helping those folks!”.
