Hanover Select Board Honors Patricia Hanson 11/8/23
The Hanover Select Board acknowledged and celebrated Hanover resident Patricia Hanson for her dedication and exceptional contributions to the nursing field. A proclamation was presented to Patricia at the Select Board meeting held on November 6, 2023.
The Proclamation
Be it resolved on this the 6th of November, 2023, the Hanover Select Board is proud to join with the residents of Hanover in honoring Hanover resident Patricia Hanson for her hard work and excellence in the nursing profession.
Patricia "Patty" Hanson, a resident of the Town of Hanover, was born the 6th of 13 children. Her first job was as a Nurse's Aid at Franvale Nursing Home in Braintree, where she was snowed in for a week during the Blizzard of '78. Patty went on to earn a full scholarship to D'Youville College in Buffalo, and she quickly established a reputation among her schoolmates for being brilliant. To the pride of the faculty of D'Youville College, upon graduating Patty secured a job at Mass General Hospital, one of the best hospitals worldwide, where she has been employed for over 40 years and insists that patient care meets Mass General standards. Patty, who has never worked a job outside of the nursing profession, also went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts while working through the major nationwide nursing shortage.
Patty, who has a wonderful sense of humor, is well known among her colleagues for being supportive to fellow nurses and even hosts the Annual Nursing Conference in her Hanover home. She recently received the DAISY Award in recognition of going above and beyond not only to provide patients and families with excellence in clinical care but also compassion.
Patty, the members of the Hanover Select Board recognize your stellar nursing career and along with the citizens of Hanover, wish to express our heartfelt thanks to you for the extraordinary efforts you have made for your nursing colleagues and the Public at large as well as the example you set for Hanover youth and adults alike. You are a credit to your family, your friends, your community, and your Country. We hereby proclaim October 20th Patricia Hanson Day to coincide with the Annual Nursing Conference and wish you the very best of luck in all your future endeavors.
