"Celebrate a Hanover High School Senior" Project! How to Participate!

Our graduates, the Hanover High School Class of 2020, are navigating the conclusion of their senior year without all of the special traditions and events that they have looked forward to for years.  They are still working hard in their virtual classrooms, at their local jobs, and preparing for the next chapters of their lives. They are doing their best to understand these incredibly challenging circumstances, but they need to know that Hanover families recognize their academic achievement, community service, athletic and artistic accomplishments, and the years of joy that have given to all of us here in 02339.

To help celebrate our graduates, the Hanover School Committee is organizing a “Celebrate a Senior” project to take place during “Senior Week”.  We are looking for 200 Hanover families (without a student in the class of 2020) to sponsor one of our graduates and celebrate them on May 26th, 27th, and 28th.  All that is required to be a sponsor family is a $50 donation, and a creative spirit to celebrate your senior.  As a participating family, you will be given the name and address of a member of the HHS Class of 2020, and your sponsorship will consist of these activities:

Tuesday, May 26th

  • Bring Hanover spirit to the home of your graduate.  This could include flowers, balloons, banners, driveway chalk, or other decorations to celebrate the occasion.

Wednesday, May 27th

  • Share cards, drawings, tik tok videos, or any other personalized messages to inspire and congratulate your graduate from your family, your neighborhood, your business, or any other connections you may have. These special sentiments can be brought to your graduate’s home or sent electronically if a digital message is preferred.

Thursday, May 28th

  • “Graduate Goodie Bag Day”.  Deliver a goodie bag filled with Hanover souvenirs to your graduate supported by your $50 donation, the HPTA, and the HPS FACE Office.  Each bag will include a selection of "Hanover gear” from the School Store and items from local businesses.  All of the goodie bags will be packaged by the Hanover School Store and will be equitable, but feel free to add some additional treats and other “essentials" that graduates will need for the next exciting chapter of their lives.

Participate

To participate, please fill out the following Google form and submit payment by Friday, May 15th.

The Google form includes all of the required information and payment instructions.  The first 200 families who respond will be contacted by Sunday, May 17th with the name and address of your graduate.  Final details will be shared with sponsoring families on May 17th. To ensure equity and inclusion for all, graduates will be assigned randomly to sponsoring families.  Please don’t request a specific student to sponsor. Every graduate will be recognized and celebrated.  The logistics will be managed by the administrative staff at Hanover Middle School and the Hanover School Committee.  If you have any questions, please send an email to HHS Principal Matthew Paquette at mpaquette@hanoverschools.org.
