Massachusetts Arbovirus Update 8/7/20

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has reported the first human case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) from Plymouth County and EEE positive mosquito samples have been detected in Franklin, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Plymouth Counties. Risk levels have been increased in these regions. A positive EEE mosquito sample has also been identified in Hanson, Massachusetts. 

Residents are reminded and encouraged to use mosquito repellents with an EPA-registered active ingredient and to observe peak mosquito activity at dusk and dawn.
