Taxation Aid Committee
In a vote at the Annual Town Meeting held on May 4, 1999, the town adopted Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 60, Section 3D, which allows for the inclusion of a voluntary check-off box on property tax and motor vehicle excise bills. This enables residents to make contributions to a special fund dedicated to helping low-income elderly and disabled individuals meet their property tax obligations. The Town also established a Taxation Aid Committee consisting of the Chairman of the Board of Assessors, the Town Treasurer, and three residents appointed by the Select Board.

The Taxation Aid Fund is intended to be a last resort for those experiencing unusual circumstances who cannot be helped by the town's other services. Please first avail yourself of any applicable services offered by the above offices.
The Hanover Taxation Aid Fund was created in 1999 to assist low-income elderly and disabled persons with their real estate taxes. The fund has been supported by the Affordable Housing Trust and contributions from citizens.
To apply, please sign and date the Hanover Taxation Aid Committee Application and send it, along with a letter explaining your disability (if applicable), the nature of your financial hardship, and any unusual circumstances, to the following address:
