Personnel

Under the direction of the Town Manager and the Board of Selectmen, the Executive Assistant provides personnel management and administrative support to Town departments in areas such as the following:

  • Compliance with various State and Federal Employment Laws
  • Hiring and Employment practices
  • The Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Minimum Wage Laws
  • Working Time and Overtime Compensation
  • Child Labor Laws
  • Family and Medical Leave Act
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Discrimination
  • Labor practices
  • Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • Training and instruction of Department Heads and/or Boards on policies and procedures as well as personnel issues
  • Open Meeting Law Seminars
  • Ethics & Conflict of Interest Seminars
  • Job descriptions and salary surveys
  • Participates in negotiations with various Town unions and provides consistent interpretation of those contracts
  • Addresses employee health and safety issues
  • Provides State with required reports
