Under the direction of the Town Manager and the Select Board, the executive assistant provides personnel management and administrative support to town departments in areas such as the following:

  • Addresses Employee Health and Safety Issues
  • Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Child Labor Laws
  • Compliance with Various State and Federal Employment Laws
  • Discrimination
  • Ethics and Conflict of Interest Seminars
  • Family and Medical Leave Act
  • Hiring and Employment Practices
  • Job Descriptions and Salary Surveys
  • Labor Practices
  • Minimum Wage Laws
  • Open Meeting Law Seminars
  • Participates in Negotiations with Various Town Unions and Provides Consistent Interpretation of Those Contracts
  • Provides State with Required Reports
  • Sexual Harassment
  • The Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • Training and Instruction of Department Heads and/or Boards on Policies and Procedures, as well as Personnel Issues
  • Working Time and Overtime Compensation
