Class I, II, or III Automobile License

  • Application Fees: $200 application fee + $200 license fee. Please make checks payable to the Town of Hanover.

  • Prerequisite: Prior to application submittal, please check with the Town Collector to ensure that there are no outstanding taxes or fees owed to the Town of Hanover for this site. Outstanding fees may delay and impede issuance.  Please see sections 6-7 and 6-7A on page 53 in the Hanover General Bylaws for more information.

Applicant Responsability

  • A copy of a Business Certificate issued by the Town Clerk, if an individual.
  • Attested copy of Articles of Organization with Amendments, if a corporation.
  • Federal Certification and State Tax Certificate and Workers Compensation Affidavit.
  • Affidavit of notice to abutters for a public hearing. (CLASS III ONLY).
  • Signed CORI authorization for ALL officers, stockholders, and directors accompanied by a clean and legible copy of the front and back of the individual’s driver's license (on one page) must be attached to each individual’s CORI form.
  • A plan or sketch drawn to scale, showing detail of the site, including interior and exterior of the building, marked and numbered parking spaces for display, service, employee, and customer parking.
  • (Class I only) Provide a copy of the Franchise Agreement with the Manufacturer and a certified list of direct abutters obtained from the Hanover Assessors’ Office.
  • (Class II only) Bond or equivalent proof of financial responsibility in the amount of $25,000 executed by a surety company authorized by the insurance department to transact business in the Commonwealth (M.G.L. c. 140, § 58, Supplement to M.G.L. c. 138-140E). Abutter notification is not required.
  • (Class III only) A certified list of direct abutters must be obtained from the Hanover Assessors’ Office. A notice of public hearing for publication will be provided to you by the Licensing Coordinator when a hearing is scheduled (M.G.L. c. 140 § 59). Seven days notice must be provided to abutters prior to the hearing.
