Town of Hanover Absentee Ballot Information for May 7, 2022, Election Update

Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that absentee ballot applications are available now in the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office for all voters living in Hanover wishing to vote by absentee ballot in the Annual Town Election. The election will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Please note: The “no-excuse absentee voting” emergency law provision, also known as “early voting”, that was enacted during COVID-19 has expired. By law, you can only vote absentee or early with an excuse for this election.

Absentee ballot applications are for use by registered voters who are unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to:

  1. Absence from the Town of Hanover during normal polling hours (8:00 am through 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th); or
  2. Physical disability preventing you from going to the polling place; or
  3. Religious belief;

OR they are for use by

Non-registered voters who are:

  1. A Massachusetts citizen absent from the state; or
  2. An active member of the armed forces or merchant marines, their spouse or dependent; or
  3. A person confined in a correctional facility or a jail, except if by reason of felony conviction.

Applications for absentee ballots to be mailed must be received by 5:00 pm on the 4th business day before the election, in this case, by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 3rd.  Applications for absentee ballots to be voted in person must be received by 12:00 pm noon on the day before the election, in this case, by 12:00 pm noon on Friday, May 6th.
