October 2021 Nor'easter 10/25/21
Posted on: October 25, 2021 - 5:23pm
A powerful autumn nor'easter may bring the chance for strong to severe thunderstorms today as low pressure tracks eastward. This system could redevelop into a coastal storm for the mid-Atlantic and Northeast corridors into Tuesday.
In anticipation of the impending storm, be informed and know what to do in an emergency. Stay in the know, visit NWS Boston for the latest weather updates and alerts. Keep flashlights and extra batteries at home and make sure your mobile devices are fully charged so you can stay connected in the event of an outage.

Power Outages
- Phone power outages to National Grid directly at 800-465-1212. This is the best way to make sure that National Grid knows your address is without power.
- Do not call 911 to report a power outage.

Downed Power Lines
Residents are advised to use extreme care around downed utility wires. Assume they are “live.”
- Report downed utility lines by calling 911.
- All downed wires should be considered live. This includes electric, telephone, and cable wires.
- Emergency responders will be marking downed wires with YELLOW caution tape. Remind children to stay away from all downed wires.
- Again, all downed wires should be considered live and avoided.
