Alarming Rise of Positive COVID-19 Cases in Hanover 12/21/20

Hanover Seal

We have seen an alarming spike of COVID-19 cases in Hanover. Last week alone, we had more cases than in the entire month of November. There have been 111 positive cases recorded since December 1st. This number is significantly greater than what Hanover experienced in the first six months of the pandemic. The dangerous rise is due to people within our community gathering with others outside of their immediate family. The data has shown, through contract tracing efforts from the Hanover Board of Health and school nurses, that gathering with your friends and neighbors outside of your household is contributing to the drastic rise of positive COVID-19 cases.

We are urging residents to remain with their immediate family during the holiday season. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and to minimize transmission to your friends and family. We ask this so we are able to keep our schools, businesses, and restaurants open.

Remember, your actions affect others. Please stay home if you are not feeling well. This year has been a tough one but we are Hanover Strong – together!
