Employment Information

Career Firefighter/Paramedic

Thank you for your interest in joining the Hanover Fire Department.  The Department utilizes the Massachusetts Civil Service System to hire and promote Career Firefighters who must have the minimum qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old AND have at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
  • Must reside in a community as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Must be a Massachusetts or Nationally Registered Paramedic

Call Firefighter

Thank you for your interest in joining the Hanover Fire Department.  Call Firefighters support the operations of the Department on an on-call basis when requested and must have the minimum qualifications:

  • Must be a Hanover resident
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old AND have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
  • Must attend required training throughout the year and respond to a pre-established percentage of emergency responses per year
