Hanover Fire Department Receives $50,000 Grant

August 27, 2020

The Hanover Fire Department is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $50,000 through the federal Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program.  This grant was offered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The grant funds will be utilized to assist with staffing costs for the Hanover Fire Department’s Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program.  The MIH program is a collaborated and coordinated approach to the Hanover’s Pandemic Response Plan which brings together several community agencies such as the fire department, public health department, community services department, visiting nurses association, and the school department.  This innovative program provides in-home assessment and COVID-19 testing of residents by paramedics with follow-up and support by public health and registered nurses.  The program has also been given the mission of providing assistance to support the opening and continued operation of the Hanover Public Schools.

Visit the Town of Hanover's MIH Information page for additional information and to see if you qualify for an in-home assessment or COVID-19 test.
