Voter Registration 2021 Information
Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that Tuesday, April 13th is the last day to register to vote in the May 3rd Annual Town Meeting and/or in the May 8th Annual Town Election. The Hanover Town Clerk’s/Registrar’s Office will be open until 8:00 pm on April 13th, and on-line registration will be available until 11:59 pm that night. Please come to the Town Clerk’s/Registrar’s side entrance lower level door if you need to register in person. Read on for on-line registration information!
Any Hanover citizen who will be eighteen on or before the first day of Town Meeting (May 3rd) or by the Town Election (May 8th) is encouraged to register to vote. Once registered, individuals will be eligible to vote in all elections thereafter. Further, residents may “pre-register” to vote if they are age 16 or 17, but they will not be eligible to vote until they turn 18.
Citizens of Hanover may conveniently register to vote or change their party status online, by mail, or in person. If residents choose to register by mail they should download the “Massachusetts Mail-In Voter Registration Form” and mail the completed form to the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office.
If voters wish to register to vote in person, they may do so at two convenient locations: Hanover Town Hall or the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
“New residents and high school students are strongly encouraged to register to vote. It is the cornerstone of our democracy!” said Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier. “Several major decisions have been made on Town Meeting floor by a one-vote margin and some local elections have turned on less than 10 votes just in the past few years. Register now to vote…so you can vote in May!”
