Resurfacing/Paving Improvements

  • Summer Street

    • Approximate Limits of Work: Circuit Street to Town Line
    • Proposed work includes cold planing/grinding of the existing roadway surface, placing a new leveling course of asphalt/pavement, raising and adjusting all structures (manholes, basins, etc.), placing a new finish course of asphalt/pavement, installing new pavement markings, & roadway shoulder restoration work.
    • Cold Planing/Grinding the existing roadway surface was completed May 18th.
  • Circuit Street

    • Proposed work includes cold planing/grinding of the existing roadway surface, placing a new leveling course of asphalt/pavement, raising and adjusting all structures (manholes, basins, etc.), placing a new finish course of asphalt/pavement, installing new pavement markings, & roadway shoulder restoration work.
    • Cold Planing/Grinding the existing roadway surface was completed May 17th & 18th.
  • School Street

Pavement Preservation Treatments

Pavement preservation practices are treatments that are used as a proactive approach to maintain the condition of existing roadways.  These treatments are a cost-effective approach to maximize the useful life of roadways, reduce premature pavement failures, and extend funding to allow more necessary work to be undertaken.

Crackseal TreatmentCrackseal

Cracking is a common and unavoidable type of damage found in asphalt pavement. Crack sealing is the placement of specialized treatment materials (crack sealant) above or into cracks to prevent the intrusion of water and incompressible materials. Sealing cracks promptly helps to prevent water penetration which can accelerate the deterioration of the pavement and result in potholes and base failures.

The Town is currently proposing to perform crack sealing in the Spring of 2021.  Areas that are proposed to recieve this treatment are highlighted on the below map:
