About the Youth Art Contest & the Hanover Master Plan

An important part of developing Hanover’s Town-wide Master Plan is describing what our citizens want Hanover to be or look like in the future. Planners call this "visioning." The Master Plan will provide specific recommendations for unified town initiatives to achieve that collective vision.  Click here to learn more about the Hanover Master Plan.

The Planning Board, recognizing the importance of involving youth in “visioning,” held a Youth Art Contest to promote interest in the Master Plan and a public dialog about our collective future. The Art Contest was open to all residents of Hanover between the ages of 5 and 18. The three age groups for judging were Kindergarten & Elementary (K-4), Middle School (5-8), and High School (9-12).

Hanover's youth were asked to capture the vision of our common future through art. The focus of the Art Contest was to answer the following questions through artistic expression:

What will Hanover be like in ten years?
What do you want it to be like in the future?
What makes Hanover special or unique?
What makes Hanover a great place to live?

The Planning Board reviewed over 250 submissions in the Hanover Master Plan Youth Art Contest and would like to thank all Hanover youth participating in the contest.

All winners and their entries will be included in the final Master Plan, and can be viewed at the John Curtis Free Library.

The Planning Board has invited all winners to come to this year’s Annual Town Meeting on Monday, May 7th, 2007 at 7:30 pm to receive a Plaque Award for their participation and selection.
