Housing Authority

The Hanover Housing Authority no longer exists.

The May 2015 Annual Town Meeting voted to dissolve the Hanover Housing Authority.  The Town’s action was subsequently approved by the Department of Community Development.

The Hanover Housing Authority was created in 1970 after a Housing Authority Study Committee determined that there was a need for elderly housing in Hanover. The Housing Authority was created under Chapter 121B Section 3 of the Massachusetts General Laws. The Housing Authority had been responsible for developing the Town's Affordable Housing Production Plan and was involved with the Afforable Housing Trust in the creation of affordable housing in Hanover.

The Housing Authority did not accept applications for housing in Hanover. All affordable housing in the Town of Hanover is privately owned and managed. The Town encourages those that are looking for affordable housing opportunities in Hanover to contact South Shore Housing in Kingston.
