Flags Half-Staff 10/15 for 2nd Lt Richard Horwitz, USAA, KIA 1945 in Italy

Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset effective Sunday, October 15, 2017, the day of interment, in honor of Second Lieutenant Richard M. Horwitz, U.S. Army/Airforce 716^th Bomber Squadron, 449^th Bombardment Group.  Lieutenant Horwitz, a native of Canton, Massachusetts, went missing on 28 February 1945 in the Gulf of Trieste, Gorizia Province, Friuli-Venezia Region, Italy.  His remains have been identified and are returning home to be laid to rest.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1.  The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls

2.  Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings

3.  All state military installations
