Cultural Council

Hanover DayThe Hanover Cultural Council (HCC) was originally named the Hanover Arts Lottery Council when it was created in May 1980.  A five to 22-member committee appointed by the selectmen, the HCC is a group of interested individuals whose main purpose is to qualify grant applicants and dispense funds allocated by the Massachusetts Cultural Council for community-based arts and cultural events that benefit the residents of Hanover.

Grant funds are dispensed on a reimbursement basis at the conclusion of each event, with state approval.

Mission Statement

The HCC Mission is to promote excellence, access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences in the Town. A goal to building community.

Contributions

In Fiscal Year 2020, the council has received a $6,200 allocation from the MCC to distribute in the form of grants.  With these funds and additional funds raised through Hanover Day, the council is able to award grants to the community in support of groups such as the Council on Aging, Hanover Public Schools, John Curtis Library, the Hanover Historical Society, and many more.

We encourage new membership and student associate membership. To become a member, please submit a Talent Bank Application or letter of interest to the Hanover Selectboard, 550 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA 02339.
