Volunteer Opportunities

The greatest energy of the Hanover Council On Aging is produced by our Volunteers. If it were not for them, it would be impossible to provide the programs and service that are currently available through the COA. They are the backbone of the COA and we appreciate the 120+ people who volunteer their time and talents. We always welcome new volunteers.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Hanover Council on Aging is always looking for volunteers.  The current opportunities include:

  • Kitchen Help—help put together Meals on Wheels luncheons for delivery and assist in serving congregate meals
  • We have an ongoing need for medical transportation drivers and meals on wheels drivers.

Meals on Wheels Drivers:

Meals on Wheels Drivers: It’s more than just a meal!  Each Meals on Wheels delivery is made by a driver who also checks on the well being of each senior, bringing peace of mind to the client and their family.  For many the Meals on Wheels driver is the only person they see during the day.  Delivery time is 11:30AM to 12:30 PM.  It takes only 1 hour.  You can volunteer once a week or once a month.  Mileage will be reimbursed.

Volunteers are called on an as needed basis.  If you can help, you will be given the client’s name address,  phone number and appointment information.

The volunteer contacts the client by phone 24 hours before the appointment to set up a pick up time.  All medical appointments are on the South Shore.  Mileage will be reimbursed.

If you are interested in volunteering contact Teresa Slight at 781-924-1913 or email Coa@hanover-ma.gov  All volunteers must pass a CORI check.  Drivers must be over 18 years old and have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

Volunteer as little as one hour a month to make a world of difference.
