Barstow Village

About the Project:

Barstow Village is an exciting new project by the joint development team of EA Fish Companies and the Planning Office for Urban Affairs with support from the Hanover Housing Authority. This team has been chosen by the Housing Authority to permit, develop, construct and manage a 66 unit senior affordable housing rental development on the Housing Authority’s vacant, 6.6 acre parcel off Legion Drive in Hanover. This land is owned by the Housing Authority and is dedicated for use as senior housing. Once completed, 70% of these units will be available with first priority to existing Hanover residents and town employees.

The Hanover Housing Authority (HHA) with assistance from the Community Preservation Fund was able to do a feasibility study on the property. The study found that this site was well suited to senior affordable housing. The Housing Authority held public meetings with abutters on September 23, 2008 and January 27, 2009 to go over any concerns with the proposed development. Issues brought up at these meetings, such as, project density, traffic, storm-water impacts, aquifer protection zone impacts, buffering to residential neighbors, were carefully analyzed by the Hanover Housing Authority in selecting the best developer for this property.
